At Santoni’s Marketplace, we believe in supporting the future of our community—and that includes the incredible young people participating in the Baltimore County 4-H and FFA Fair. This year, we were proud to take part in the annual Livestock Auction by purchasing a lamb raised by local high school student and neighbor, Aida Walter.
Aida recently shared her story with Lou Santoni, explaining what 4-H is all about and how the program teaches responsibility, commitment, and care for animals. She spoke about how support from local businesses helps students like her continue to pursue their agricultural passions while strengthening the local food system. Inspired by her dedication, Lou made a trip to the fair to experience the event firsthand.
From the excitement of the auction to seeing the months of hard work put in by these young exhibitors, it was a day filled with learning, appreciation, and community spirit. The Livestock Auction is the highlight of the 3-day fair—an evening when 4-H participants showcase their animals after months of feeding, training, and caring for them. It’s also an important opportunity for community members to invest in the future of farming.
As part of our continued support, Santoni’s will be featuring gourmet lamb dishes in our gourmet case throughout the coming week—including lamb stew, lamb chops, and other flavorful creations crafted by our culinary team. It’s a delicious way to enjoy locally raised, well-loved meat while celebrating the hardworking youth in our community.
We’re honored to support Aida and other 4-Hers who are carrying on the legacy of agriculture in our area. These young farmers are essential to the future of food, and we encourage others in the community to get involved in this meaningful event.
Thank you to Aida for sharing her journey with us—and to all the 4-Hers who remind us that the future is bright.
