Dear Valued Customer,

As you may know, Baltimore County has implemented a plastic bag ban effective November 1st, 2023. Santoni’s is exempt from this ban under a “Mom and Pop” provision. However, Santoni’s is committed to being ecologically responsible and minimizing our impact on the environment. We encourage our customers to use a reusable shopping bag or recycle plastic and paper bags by reusing them as much as possible. At this time, we will provide eco-friendly plastic or paper bags at a cost of $.05 per bag. We also have a beautiful reusable Santoni’s shopping bag available to purchase for $1.49. We’d love to see you show off yours!

We understand that there may be concerns about the environmental impact of plastic bags, and we want to address those concerns by providing some facts:

Plastic bags can be recycled: Many recycling programs now accept plastic bags, which can be turned into a variety of products, including new bags.

Plastic bags have a smaller footprint than paper bags: Studies have shown that paper bags require significantly more energy and resources to produce than plastic bags, and they have a larger carbon footprint.

Plastic bags can be reused multiple times: Plastic bags are durable and can be reused for various purposes, such as for storage, trash disposal, or as doggy bags, reducing the need for single use bags.

Plastic bags are lightweight: Plastic bags are much lighter than paper bags, which means they require less energy to transport and have a lower impact on transportation emissions.

Plastic bags have a lower production footprint: The production of plastic bags requires less water and generates fewer greenhouse gas emissions compared to paper bags.

We hope that you and Santoni’s continue to keep our community clean and ecologically viable for a better future. Thank you for your understanding and support.
